Sarah Brown is a junior
Arabic Studies and Linguistics double major from Frederick, MD. She went
to Guatemala through Alternative Breaks last winter and loved it so much that
she decided to return again in 2014 as a trip leader. In addition to AB, she is
involved in several other groups on campus such as the Project on Children’s
Language Learning, Honors, the Arabic Flagship Program, and the Language House
Living-Learning Program.
Christopher Frye is a sophomore Economics and Environmental Science and Policy major from Glen Burnie, MD. Though this is his first trip as a leader he has much experience with service trips as he has participated in many Habitat for Humanity build trips and was a participant on the Alternative Winter Break 2013 trip to Gaston, NC for Rural Education. He likes long walks on the beach, watching serial dramas, and molding young minds.
Lizeth Gonzalez is a graduate of the University of
Maryland’s Robert Smith School of Business, with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Accounting. She has taken graduate level higher education courses at
UMCP and will complete the UMD-Smith School of Business Leadership Academy in
December 2013. She is passionate about college student leadership
development. Since 2009 she has worked with the Alternative Break Program
at the University of Maryland to advise and guide students through community
service learning experiences domestically and abroad in places such as
California, South Carolina and the Bahamas. She has advised student
service learning experiences focusing on general healthcare, childhood
healthcare and education, environmental conservation and eco-tourism, as well
as community development. Lizeth is the Advisor to the National Society
of Collegiate Scholars at the University of Maryland. She was recently
married and currently resides in Silver Spring, MD.
